The city of Poznan in western Poland was selected to host the 2009 world rowing championships, the International Rowing Federation announced at its 113th annual congress Monday.
In a vote held among delegates from 56 countries, Poznan defeated Amsterdam, the Netherlands, by a vote of 104-37. Poznan successfully hosted the 2004 world under-23 rowing championships and also one stage of the 2004 rowing World Cup. | Source: Canadian Press | Sep.06.2005 |
