Poznan to host World Rowing Championships

 

The city of Poznan in western Poland was selected to host the 2009 world rowing championships, the International Rowing Federation announced at its 113th annual congress Monday.

In a vote held among delegates from 56 countries, Poznan defeated Amsterdam, the Netherlands, by a vote of 104-37. Poznan successfully hosted the 2004 world under-23 rowing championships and also one stage of the 2004 rowing World Cup.
