Discoveries for Polish Archeologists
Polish archeologists have had quite a successful start to the new year, as two individual teams abroad made significant discoveries in the first week of January.
Firstly, a team of archeologists from the Archeology Institute at the University of Warsaw discovered what appears to be the remains of a Roman fort on the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine dating as far back as 2 AD..
A few days later, it was reported that a team of archeologists from the Archeology and Ethnology Institute of the Polish Academy of Science from Poznan discovered several figurines and rock engravings in Sudan. Many of the terracotta figurines were phallus-shaped, suggesting the objects were connected with fertility rites. Remains of a prehistoric settlement were also found near the site of the original discovery.
