Poznan Army Monument

The Poznan Army Monument on Sw. Wojciech was put in place to mark the importance of the events of WWII to Poznan and the rest of Poland. It's impossible to miss this sizable jagged and grey memorial but despite its spiky apppearance it brings home, upon closer inspection, the destruction and misery which was inflicted on Poland. The walls beneath the main elevations are decorated with carvings of soldiers at battle and the names of hundreds of towns and cities across the country which fell foul of the war.

"'Poznan Army Monument' is worth seeing. One can spend a couple of hours going through the antiqued arsenal. There are some planes and tankers(probably used in WW-II) outside the museum. Kid's and young people would like it."

"From a distance it did look kind of 'jagged' but, like the review said, at a closer look you get a feel of how widespread the effect of the war was in Poland. Later on when I was returning from the Citadel the monument was occupied by skaters. That's a lot of flat surfaces for them!"
