The Ratusz (Old Town Hall) is perhaps the most beautiful and popular tourist attraction in all Poznan. It was first built in the 14th century and was home to Poznan's powers that be. Following the great fire of 1536 Giovanni Quadro was put in charge of its reconstruction; luck was not on its side however, as through the ages it has suffered at the hands of another fire in 1675, a hurricane in 1725, and then WWII put paid to the majority of its original structure. It now houses the Historical Museum of Poznan, and the two automated billy goats that clash heads above the clock at noon every day are a real crowd puller!
