Whipping Post

|
On Stary Rynek in front of the Town Hall is the place where criminals were served their punishment. Public floggings were common and more serious crimes were dealt with by an executioner, a statue of whom stands on top of the whipping post. The post in place now is a replica but the original is on display inside the Historical Museum of Poznan. Of course criminals are dealt with in a humane fashion these days, but you should still remember to behave yourself! |
