Osmego Dnia

The Theatre of the Eighth Day - as Ósmego Dnia can be rendered in English - is several steps away from what many would consider traditional theatrical tradition. It was born out of oppression, and so came to be a theatrical voice of democratic opposition and dissent. Indeed, it's many admirers include Poland's Adam Michnik, and the late Czech Vaclav Havel. The theatre was founded in the harsh political climate of the 1960s, and its daring taunts and jibes at the regime of the day quickly earned it the nickname 'The Rolling Stones of Theatre'. These days, it's just as edgy, and is the place to go if you want to enjoy theatre that's right on the cutting edge of avant garde.
